SISTACULAR!

A "Sistacular" (Megan named it...) is a celebration just for sisters. A night to hang out and make fun food. (Abbey was having a "friendtacular" with her friend Lynn across the street.)

Tonight our menu included:

Sliders with steak fries and onion rings
Molten Lava Cakes
Cherry Cheesecake Tarts

Each of the girls had their own recipes to be working on. Emily made the Sliders and Megan made the Cherry Cheesecake Tarts. Em and I made the Molten Lava Cakes together.

After the dishes were done, we settled in to watch Miss Congeniality. Nothing like a little sister time...

Living Room Sleepover

Emily was out of town this weekend on the Junior High Girls Weekend Getaway. They went to Palm Springs, stayed in a really nice hotel and went to a waterpark and swam and went to the mall. She had so much fun.

In her absence, Megan and Abbey decided to have a Living Room Sleepover. They set this whole thing up and watched The Secret Garden on the laptop computer. (Notice the ongoing construction project paraphernalia in the background. Em wasn't the only one in luxurious accommodations! :))

When I asked them to smile for me I noticed something special happening...

Ahhh...Sisterhood!

Sisters...

I've always wished I had a sister. Someone who knows me inside and out. Someone who I could turn to. Someone I could be there for in return. Someone to pray with, shop with, laugh with, cry with, raise kids with, a "built-in" best friend. I have to admit that I am sometimes envious of my girls and how they have each other and love each other.

Today it occured to me, as I listened to Megan and Abbey having so much fun playing Barbies on the trampoline, that I might not have a biological sister, but the Lord has given me "sisters." Megan and Nichole fill all those "sister" holes in my heart.
